Insights on Industry Day speakers

Marcus Klein

Marcus Klein is Managing Director of SURAGUS GmbH, where he works with advanced non-contact measurement and inspection technologies for thin films and functional materials. He holds a degree in Business and Engineering from TU Dresden, with a focus on microelectronics and electronic packaging, and has previous experience with Siemens, Wacker Chemie, the Advanced Mask Technology Center and Fraunhofer. His expertise spans material characterization, thin-film measurement and the integration of inline monitoring into industrial production processes.

Hindrik de Vries

Hindrik de Vries is System Architect at SALD B.V. and has more than 20 years of experience in thin-film deposition, plasma technology and roll-to-roll processing. His work spans the development of plasma sources, atmospheric-pressure deposition and spatial atomic layer deposition, with a strong focus on increasing coating speed while maintaining high-quality functional layers. Today, his work at SALD focuses on bringing spatial ALD into scalable sheet-to-sheet and roll-to-roll production for applications including photovoltaics and other energy technologies.

Morten Madsen

Morten Madsen is Professor and Head of the Center for Advanced Photovoltaics and Thin-film Energy Devices (SDU CAPE) at the University of Southern Denmark. He holds a PhD in Functional Materials and Nanotechnology and has worked within advanced materials and thin-film technologies for more than 15 years, including research at UC Berkeley.

At SDU CAPE, he leads research into solar energy conversion and storage, including organic, hybrid and oxide solar cells. A central part of his work is the Lab-2-Fab approach, bridging high-performance laboratory research with large-scale manufacturing under industrial conditions using roll-to-roll processing.
